Dining Options

For those of you staying at or near SLAC, there is a wide range of dining options available nearby. Sharon Park shopping center is within reasonable walking distance, and the Menlo Park and Palo Alto downtowns are a short bus or car ride away. If you’re conducting research onsite late at night and aren’t able to get out and about, there are also a number of places that will deliver to SLAC.

Below are a few of the dining options to get you started.

SLACafé

SLACafé is pleased to offer a wide variety of flavorful breakfast (all day), lunch, snack and specialty beverage items for every taste made with fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., for carryout orders only.

Verve Coffee Roasters Kiosk at SLAC

Adjacent to the Guest House, Verve Coffee Roasters serves delicious espresso drinks alongside seasonal breakfast and lunch offerings. Take it to go or enjoy your meal on their beautiful patio. Use Verve's order ahead website to have your order ready when you arrive. Hours: Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Stanford Campus

The Marguerite Shuttle provides service to and from the Stanford campus, which has many dining and café options.

Local Restaurant Delivery

Depending on the status of shelter in place, some local restaurants may deliver to the SLAC Main Gate or Guest House. Deliveries are not available to the beam lines, but Users can pick their orders up from the Guest House. Below are a few options our guests use:

  • Pizza My Heart - Pizza (will deliver to SLAC for large orders)
  • Doordash - Online order and delivery service from local restaurants
  • Waiters on Wheels - Online order and delivery service from local restaurants

  • Eat24 - Online order and delivery service from local restaurants

If you would like to order from a restaurant or service not listed above, and they will deliver to SLAC, please let the Main Gate know by calling 650-926-2551 (or just dial 2551 from a SLAC phone) once you’ve placed your order.

Local Restaurant Discounts

Discounts are offered at the following nearby restaurants:

  • Eric's Gourmet - Located at 325 Sharon Park Drive in Menlo Park, Eric's offers SLAC employees a discount through their "frequent buyer" program. Ask for a frequent buyer sandwich card. Show your badge when buying a sandwich to get two stamps on the card, instead of the usual single stamp. After five purchases, you’ll get a free sandwich.
  • Luttickens - Located at 3535 Alameda de las Pulgas in Menlo Park, Luttickens offers SLAC employees a free fountain drink and refills with the purchase of a sandwich when you show your badge.
  • Portola Kitchen - Located at 3130 Alpine Road in Portola Valley, Portola Kitchen offers SLAC employees a 10 percent discount when you show your badge.
